SnapCyte Lens®

Capture brightfield images from your phone and sync them directly to your SnapCyte® experiment.

What is SnapCyte Lens®?

SnapCyte Lens® is a free app that runs on your phone. Open it from your home screen, capture images through your microscope eyepiece, and they sync automatically to your experiment, no cables, no manual upload.

Works on iOS and Android. No app store download required.

1. Install SnapCyte Lens® on your phone

Open your browser and go to lens.snapcyte.com

iPhone

1. Open the link in Safari
2. Tap Share button
3. Tap Add to Home Screen

Android

1. Open in Chrome
2. Tap Install when prompted
3. Tap Install to confirm

Either path produces the same results. The difference is in image quality, existing set up in your lab and convenience.

2. Capture your images

Open SnapCyte Lens® from your home screen. Hold your phone to the microscope eyepiece, zoom in so cells fill the frame and minimize black borders. Use an adapter for better stability.  We recommend Celestron NexYZ adapter and Swift 5.0 Megapixel Digital Camera.

Use 10X magnification. Make sure cells are in focus and lighting is even. If you’re taking images of multiple wells make sure to keep track of which wells the images belong to so you can organize them later.

3. Find your images in SnapCyte®

Sync you’re images when you’re online. Images sync automatically to the SnapCyte Capture tab inside your experiment. Open app.snapcyte.com  on your desktop, go to the Capture tab, and assign images to a specific assay. You can assign images to existing experiments or create new ones. Once assigned go to the experiment to organize and Analyze your images.

Sync images soon after capturing them. PWA storage limits vary by device type,  images that haven’t synced may be lost if the app if  your device runs low on storage.

Troubleshooting

Color rings around the image
Blue or yellow rings mean the adapter isn’t aligned. Realign and adjust the distance between the phone and the eyepiece until the rings disappear.
Images not showing in the Capture tab
Make sure your phone has an internet connection when syncing. Reopen Lens and check if images are still there , sync before closing.
